Mayor Bowser to Kick Off ‘innoMAYtion’

Month-long initiative will highlight inclusive and innovative solutions to improve District services, provide more economic opportunities for residents

(Washington, DC) – Tomorrow at 11 a.m., Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development will kick-off innoMAYtion at the Anacostia Arts Center. InnoMAYtion is a month-long initiative that showcases how DC’s thriving and innovative entrepreneurs are strengthening our city and increasing economic opportunity for our residents.

Mayor Bowser will kick off innoMAYtion by launching Project 500, a partnership between American University’s new Center for Innovation in the Capital and the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Greater Economic Opportunity, that will help 500 disadvantaged small businesses in the District grow in revenue and size over the next three years. Specifically, the initiative will support businesses in Wards 7 and 8 by offering hands-on training, capacity building, mentoring, and networking support.

The launch of Project 500 is the first of many events that will occur throughout innoMAYtion. The calendar of events will be unveiled tomorrow on innomaytion.dc.gov.
