June Housing Bloom
During the month of June, we celebrate housing in the District with our partner agencies, the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) and the District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency (DCHFA). “June Housing Bloom,” as we call it, recognizes how the District produces and preserves affordable housing, spurs development in underserved communities and ensures that residents of all backgrounds can afford to live and thrive in the city.
The signature event of June Housing Bloom is always the DC Housing Expo, this year to take place on Saturday, June 15, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center Hall D from 10 AM to 3 PM. Join us to access more than a dozen workshops and over 200 exhibitors—including government agencies, nonprofit community organizations, lenders and realtors. RSVP TODAY!
Activities throughout the event include:
- DIY, Design and Decorating Tips
- Small Business Marketplace
- Smart Home Technology
- Home Purchasing Assistance Information
- Tenant and Landlord Resources
- Aging in Place Resources
- Youth Zone
- Prizes and Giveaways
And this comes at a perfect time as Mayor Bowser signed a Mayor's order at an Invest in Housing Rally in Ward 7 earlier this month, where stakeholders and community members showed support for housing investments directing District agencies to identify new policies, tools, and initiatives to begin fulfilling her bold goal of creating 36,000 new housing units, 12,000 of them affordable, by 2025.
