D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser is proposing a healthy tax break to lure companies to the St. Elizabeths East campus.
Bowser's fiscal year 2019 budget includes a 10-year tax abatement, called the "St. Elizabeths Job Creation Incentive Act," for businesses that lease a minimum of 35,000 square feet at St. E's, the initial redevelopment of whichwill include a 217,000-square-foot office-over-retail building to be developed by Redbrick LMD in addition to housing and the St. E's arena.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has agreed to pay the District $1.3 million for abruptly bailing on its planned store at Skyland Town Center more than two years ago, the Office of the D.C. Attorney General announced Thursday.

The District announced Tuesday that it will soon seek development partners for four projects — three east of the Anacostia — totaling thousands of square feet of retail, office, residential and restaurants.
The projects were announced Tuesday by the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development at its annual March Madness pre-solicitation event. Held this year at The Wharf, the event attracted throngs of contractors, small businesses and consultants.
