Mayor Bowser to Launch Series of Safer, Stronger DC Initiatives to Support Families and Residents Throughout the Summer

Event Includes Kickoff of 2018 Mayor Marion S. Barry Summer Youth Employment Program

Washington, DC – On Monday, June 25, at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will announce several summer initiatives that will create new pathways to employment and support violence prevention efforts across the District, particularly in neighborhoods that have recently experienced spikes in violence.

Mayor Bowser will also celebrate the first day of the Marion S. Barry Summer Youth Employment Program (MBSYEP). More than 10,000 participants, ages 14 to 24, will begin six weeks of summer employment with partnering private sector or government agencies across the District.
