(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Mayor Vincent C. Gray today announced the appointment of Chester A. McPherson as Acting Commissioner of the Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking. McPherson has served as Interim Commissioner since Nov. 17, 2013 and prior was the Deputy Commissioner of Market Operations. He begins his new role today.

Hoskins today announced the receipt of six responses submitted for the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the development of a District-owned parcel at the intersection of 8th and O Streets NW in Ward 6. The parcel is situated in the heart of the Shaw neighborhood, one block from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, within walking distance of Metro lines and nearby to numerous other public amenities such as the Kennedy Recreation Center.
