(Washington, DC) – The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development today announced six teams have been selected for a short list of development companies vying for the right to redevelop the former Hine Junior High School in the Capitol Hill neighborhood.

“This site presents and incredible opportunity to bring even more great amenities to the Eastern Market neighborhood,” said Deputy Mayor Neil O. Albert. “We received a number of great proposals for this site yet these teams stood out among them, each presenting unique ideas and demonstrating the capacity to bring their projects to life.”

The Hine site is located between Eastern Market and the Eastern Market Metrorail Station along Pennsylvania Avenue SE. The short list teams’ plans include various combinations of new housing, office space, nonprofit space and neighborhood-serving retail. The District issued a solicitation for development proposals late last year and bids were due in late March.

The short listed teams are:

  • The Bozzutto Group/Scallan Properties/Lehr Jackson Associates/E.R. Bacon Development, LLC/Blue Skye Development/CityStrategy, LLC
  • EQR (Equity Residential)/Mosaic Urban Partners
  • Quadrangle Development Corporation/CapStone Development, LLC
  • National Leadership Campus/Western Development Group
  • Stanton Development Corporation/Eastbanc Inc./Autopark Inc./The Jarvis Companies/Dantes Partners
  • StreetSense/DSF/Menkiti Group

On June 10th the District will host a community meeting at nearby Tyler Elementary School where each of the development teams will share their proposals with the public. Located at1001 G Street SE, the meeting will begin at 6 pm.
