District Issues Request for Offers to Reuse Gales School as Homeless Shelter

(Washington, DC) - The Department of Real Estate Services (“DRES”) has issued a Request for Offers (“RFO”) to lease the former Gales School, located at 65 Massachusetts Avenue, NW. The building is a 25,380 square foot historic landmark on 12,764 square feet of land.

The District is seeking respondents that demonstrate a creative and viable approach for using the site as a homeless shelter, a track record of offering a high quality homeless shelter, the financial capacity to execute the proposed project and a commitment to opportunities for local, small and disadvantaged businesses and jobs for District residents.

RFO responses are due by 5 pm EDT, February 16, 2010, delivered to the Department of Real Estate Services, ATTN: Chafula Abdullah, 2000 14th Street NW, Suite 800, Washington DC, 20009.

The full text of the RFO is posted on DRES website. Questions regarding the RFO will only be accepted by email to Chafula Abdullah. Responses to the questions will be posted on the DRES website.
