Economic Intelligence Roundtable: Focus on Retail Grocery Access

Last Date:

Location:
600 14th Street NW, Washington, DC 20005
Building:
Institute for Electronic Government / IEG Briefing Center
Room:
2nd Floor, Hamilton Square
Details:

Some DC Neighborhoods are in short supply of grocery stores or other sources of healthy and affordable food. Join us at the next Economic Intelligence Roundtable to discuss the dynamics of food access in the District.

The event, brought to you by DC's Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) in partnership with the DC Chamber of Commerce, will bring together researchers, retailers, and policy makers to explore what data tells us about the availability of food in developing corridors and incentives to make nutritious food more readily available. Can targeting economic development to specific economic, geographic, and demographic factors close the grocery gap?

Participants will hear from Deputy Mayor Brian Kenner, retail grocers, representatives from independent thinks tanks, as well as government officials  looking to expand initiatives to increase food access in the District. Representatives from business, small retailers, academia, community-based organizations, advocacy organizations, and government are encouraged to participate.

Since our first Economic Intelligence Roundtable in spring 2015, we have been providing avenues of data-driven and technology-driven contact for economic development policy and decision-making across several sectors. Like previous roundtables, this session will support an ongoing effort led by DMPED to increase access to opportunities that support all businesses and residents, and strengthens vulnerable communities.

There is no cost to participate in this workshop, but due to space limitations, registration is required. To participate, please register by going to https://goo.gl/V5tCKq or  REGISTER HERE
