Announcing First-Ever DC Underground Fashion Show During National Cherry Blossom Festival 

Dupont Underground and the Commission on Fashions Arts & Events partner with the National Cherry Blossom Festival to curate the first-ever underground fashion show in Washington, D.C.

(Washington, D.C.) — On April 15th, Dupont Underground and the Commission on Fashion Arts & Events (CFAE) in partnership with the National Cherry Blossom Festival will hold Underneath It All: An Underground Fashion Showcase featuring acclaimed local designers from across the Washington, D.C. area.

"The fashion industry in Washington, D.C. has significantly grown in the past few years, and we are elated to feature the outstanding work of our local designers," said Christine Brooks-Cropper, CEO Greater Washington Fashion Chamber of Commerce & CFAE chair. "We are excited and honored to be a part of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, an event that attracts visitors from all over the nation and world to Washington, D.C."

"Not only are we proud to host some of Washington D.C.'s finest creatives here at Dupont Underground through such a dynamic event," said David Ross, Managing Director and Board Member of Dupont Underground, "but to be a part of a tradition as prominent as the National Cherry Blossom Festival is a sincere honor.

During the closing week of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, Underneath It All: An Underground Fashion Showcase, will celebrate the cultural and historical diversity of our nation's capital, while playing homage to the international relationships that built this festival. The Commission on Fashion Arts & Events, establised by the District of Columbia of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, is the driving force in promoting the fashion and beauty industry in Washington, D.C.

"The National Cherry Blossom Festival prides itself on showcasing the creativity and culture of Washington, D.C., and we are excited to work with the Commission of Fashion Arts and Events to include this unique fashion experience as part of our four-week-long springtime celebration," said Diana Mayhew, President of the National Cherry Blossom Festival.

Food and drinks will be provided. Attendees must be over 21 years old. Tickets will be released on March 6th, 2017.

The Dupont Underground is a 501(c)(3) cultural organization committed to developing a multi- disciplinary platform for creative expression. The National Cherry Blossom Festival is the nation’s greatest springtime celebration. The 2017 Festival, March 20 – April 16, includes four weeks of events featuring diverse and creative programming promoting traditional and contemporary arts and culture, natural beauty, and community spirit.
