Two sites in Anacostia, at 1201-1215 Good Hope Road SE and 1909 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE, are expected to be totally redeveloped with small to medium scaled commercial and mixed-use developments. Until October 17, developers had the chance to submit their ideas for what is called the Martin Luther King Gateway, and just recently the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) released the names of which development teams responded to the Request for Proposals.

The two development teams are The Menkiti Group and Enlightened, Inc; and the Anacostia Economic Development Corp. and Republic Properties Corp. Curbed contacted The Menkiti Group, but did not receive a response by the time of this article’s publication. A source at Republic Properties Corp. said that they are not willing to disclose any details on their proposal just yet.

The Martin Luther King Gateway was one of the projects introduced during DMPED’s March Madnessevent. The event is an annual economic development showcase where the District announces upcoming community development projects, according to a press release.
