Small, Local Business Will Produce an East of the River Business and Community Guide

(Washington, DC) The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development and the Washington, DC Economic Partnership announced today that a certified Local, Small, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (LSDBE) has been selected to produce an East of the River Business and Community Guide. The guide is to be produced jointly by Imagine Photography and the Community Directory Group (“CD Group”).

“We are committed to the success of the District’s small business enterprises,” said Neil O. Albert, deputy mayor for planning and economic development. “This is a great opportunity to partner the creative vision of a certified LSDBE to market and promote economic growth east of the river.”

In December 2006, DMPED and the WDCEP issued a scope of work for competitive bidding. The scope requested responses from a firm, company or team with experience in communications, data gathering and advertisement sales as well as having produced other business and community guides. The District plans to support the guide with a one-time, nonrecurring investment of up to $25,000. The guide is to be widely distributed east of the Anacostia River and throughout the city and region.

Imagine Photography and CD Group plan to work closely with stakeholders in the District’s Wards 7 and 8 communities to assemble the guide. They have structured a process that will involve students, seniors, and other adults in producing a guide which builds “community pride, introduces jobs skills, provides employment to Ward 7 and 8 residents, and establishes a process by which the Guide can be easily updated by existing organizations in the future.”
