What do I need to do to coach a sport at my local school?

• You must speak with the local school principal.
  
• If offered a coaching position you must complete the fingerprinting and clear a criminal background check before meeting with student athletes.
  
• Non DCPS applicants must verify (TB test) Tuberculosis.
  
• You must receive a coach ID with a expiration date (All coaches must re-certify every 2 years)

The Coach’s Pledge

The Coach’s Pledge extends beyond knowledge of athletics and reaches into the life of each of his or her players. It is one of the most important responsibilities in the school and involves at least the same level of commitment that coaches expect from their players. Mutual respect and team membership are to be expected equally of player and coach and, for the coach involved the following promises:
