The $850 million mixed-use project will be built on the site of the 10.2-acre site of the old convention center in the heart of the center city. The project will include world-class shopping, striking architecture, vibrant public spaces and high-end living and workspaces that, together, will create a dynamic new 18-hour hub of activity downtown.
The project is within a block of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Marriott's planned Convention Center Headquarters Hotel, Chinatown and Gallery Place, five Metrorail lines and the Verizon Center. The District is working with Hines|Archstone, CityCenter's developer, to bring a luxury hotel and potentially a department store to an adjacent parcel on the site. The project is expected to provide more than 2,500 new permanent jobs and more than $200 million in economic value for the city.
