Ward 2 Neighborhood Revitalization


The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development is currently developing the following projects in Ward 2.

CityCenterDC - Old Convention Center Site

CityCenter DC is an $850 million mixed-use project on the 10.2-acre old convention center site in the heart of the center city of Washington DC. The project promises to become the District's premier downtown retail, restaurant and entertainment destination.

 
O Street Market.jpg

CityMarket at O

CityMarket at O is a 1 million-square foot urban infill project being developed by Roadside Development on the former O Street market site at 9th and O Street, NW in Washington DC’s Shaw neighborhood. The Fenty administration committed $35 million in tax increment financing (TIF) and $2.5 million in predevelopment funds for the project. The project will include over 87,000 square feet of retail, 600+ residential units, and over 500 parking spaces.

Convention Center HQ Hotel

The District and Marriott International are partnering to build a 1,175-room Marriott Marquis convention center headquarters hotel that will support the District’s world-class Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

CoStar Headquarters Relocation

CoStar Group, Inc., a publicly traded real estate services company to the commercial real estate industry has moved its corporate headquarters from Bethesda, Maryland into Washington, DC.

Dupont Circle Trolley Station Redevelopment

The District of Columbia, through the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development ("DMPED"), has issued a Request for Proposals ("RFP") inviting qualified development teams ("Offerors") to propose their vision and plan for redeveloping the historic Dupont Trolley Station located underneath the Dupont Circle ("Project"). Responses to this RFP were due by Thursday, July 8, 2010.

Hurt Home

The District of Columbia through the office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) has selected the joint venture of Argos Group and Potomac Investment Properties to redevelop the Hurt Home at 3050 R Street, NW in Washington DC. DMPED is currently negoticating the Disposition and Development Agreement.

Stevens School

The District of Columbia through the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) in conjunction with the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education (DME) has made the selection of the Akridge-Argos development team and Ivymount Schools and Programs to redevelop the historic Stevens School in the West End neighborhood of Ward 2.
