Lincoln Heights Richardson Dwellings

Narrative Description
The District, in collaboration with the residents of the Lincoln Heights and Richardson Dwellings neighborhood, initiated a process to plan for and implement the revitalization of the DC Housing Authority’s property and the surrounding Deanwood neighborhood in Ward 7. In late 2006, the DC Council adopted the The Lincoln Heights/Richardson Dwellings New Community Revitalization Plan*.
Consistent with the New Communities Initiative, the goal of this effort is to transform the public housing developments and the neighborhood into a mixed-income, mixed-use community. In this New Community, occupants of the existing public housing developments, along with new residents in the community, will have access to high quality housing options affordable at all income levels. Existing public housing residents will also have access to a Human Capital program that will provide the human services necessary to help prepare them to take advantage of the new economic opportunities and changes that are coming their way.
