In response to a Solicitation for Offers the District of Columbia, through the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, selected Donatelli Development and Mosaic Urban Partners to develop three properties along the 3800 block of Georgia Avenue into a $5 million mixed-use development, which will include a dozen condominiums and neighborhood-serving retail and restaurants.
The properties, 3813, 3815 and 3825-29 Georgia Avenue NW, are a combination of empty storefronts and vacant lots located about one block north of the Georgia Avenue-Petworth Metrorail Station.
The project is expected to generate about 50 new permanent jobs as well a 5,000 square foot retail incubator space and at least 5,000 square feet of space for sit-down restaurants. At least 30 percent of the units will be sold as affordable housing.
Less than a block away, Donatelli Development’s Park Place, a $70 million, 156-unit housing and retail development atop the Metro station, is expected to open this coming spring. Donatelli also built The Ellington, a $50 million 190-unit apartment building at 13th and U Streets NW and Highland Park, a $70 million 229-unit building with 22,000 square feet of retail at the corner of 14th and Irving Streets NW in Columbia Heights.
